Marshall once said, not upgrading pistons because you dont intend to detonate is like not wearing a helmet on a motorcycle because you dont intend to fall. You will detonate eventually, maybe during a race, maybe during tuning, and then your 700rwhp motor you just put all that time and money into just blew to pieces. Go run your race gas on your 700rwhp stock bottom end and get back to me. You start at a disadvantage, but when your still going to do a full bottom end build up, it makes little difference wether its VG or VQ. Get lower compression VQ pistons and your set. Now youve got a 3.5L that can handle a twin turbo application. Dont get me wrong, im all for the VG over the VQ, but i think the VQ deserves a little more credit than its getting.
